TB-500 vs TB4 (Thymosin Beta 4)
The Short Answer
TB4 and TB-500 are similar, yet not the same peptide—although your peptide supplier may call both TB-500, which is confusing.
If you’re looking for a quick answer, my personal opinion is that TB4 is better, so I only purchase peptides labeled as TB4 or TB500 (43aa).
Read on to learn more about why I prefer TB4 and how you can spot the differences when purchasing.
The TB4 vs TB500 Debate
Thymosin beta 4 (TB4) and Thymosin beta 500 (TB-500) are two peptides that have been gaining a lot of attention in recent years due to their potential health benefits. However, many people often confuse the two and assume they are the same thing.
In this article, we will explore the key differences between these two peptides and how they work.

TB-500 vs Thymosin Beta-4 Differences
One of the most important difference between TB4 and TB-500 is their molecular structure. TB4 is a naturally occurring peptide made up of 43 amino acids, while TB-500 is a synthetic peptide fragment that consists of only a fragment of the amino acids normally found in TB4.
Studies have already confirmed the effectiveness of both TB4 and TB4 fragments by showing that a “Peptide fragment of thymosin β4 increases hippocampal neurogenesis and facilitates spatial memory”.
However, because TB-500 is a fragment of TB4, it may not have all of the same biological functions as the full-length peptide. Despite this, both TB4 and TB-500 have shown promise in promoting healing and reducing inflammation, and further research is needed to fully understand their mechanisms of action and potential therapeutic applications.
Some speculate that TB4 is likely the better of these two compounds, though most of the backing is anecdotal.
“How do I know if I’m buying/getting TB4 or TB-500?”
Most online peptide suppliers at the time of me writing seem to refer to both TB4/TB500 as TB500.
If you’re someone working with a doctor, your doctor and/or pharmacist should know whether the substance is TB4 or TB-500.
However, if you’re purchasing your research chemical online without a prescription, it can be a little confusing.
Many online stores/suppliers will put “TB-500 (43aa). The 43aa indicates refers to the full TB4 peptide vs the fragment TB-500. So…
TB-500 43aa = TB4
If they don’t have 43aa, then it could be either TB4 or TB-500.
Final thoughts
Overall, both Thymosin Beta 4 (TB4) and Thymosin Beta 500 (TB-500) have shown promise in promoting tissue repair and regeneration, reducing inflammation, and protecting the nervous system.
While there are some key differences between these two peptides, they both have the potential to be beneficial for a wide range of health conditions.
I personally only use TB4 because I believe it may have a broader range of benefits, but this is just a personal and “reasonable” shot in the dark.
As with any supplement or medication, it is important to speak with a healthcare provider before using TB4 or TB-500 to ensure that it is safe for you and your individual needs.
